How do I decide to which schools I apply to?
Be aware of in-state/out-of-state ratios at various schools and definitely apply to your home state school(s). An applicant’s state schools are always their “best bets.”
Apply to a range of schools; admissions statistics and rankings will provide some indication of how competitive a school is likely to be.
Apply to multiple schools, but do not go overboard. Remember that the admissions process is very expensive, as well as time- and labor-intensive. You won’t be able to do a good job on your applications if you apply to too many schools. The average is about eight to twelve schools.
